News & Updates

10/28/09:  Casey has been growing and getting more grown up by the minute.  He started preschool in September and loves it.  His teacher is Miss Marla and he has 8 other kids in his class.

Casey also got a new "big kid" bedroom at the beginning of this month.  We decided he was getting way too big for his toddler bed and couldn't wait until his birthday like we had originally planned.  So now he has a nice Twin side captains bed, a new dresser, and a new desk.  The room is also decorated in a Toy Story theme.  He is very proud of his new room and loves to show it off.

Casey has also been asking me, "Mommy, will you marry me?" a lot.  It is very cute and of course I always say yes. :)

Casey is really looking forward to Halloween this year and is dressing up as Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.  His cousin Joey is also going to be Buzz Lightyear which Casey thought was pretty neat.

Hard to believe that this year is almost over and our little boy is going to be 4 yrs old in just a couple of months!

8/25/09:   Oh the mind of a 3 1/2 year old.  Here is a conversation between Casey and me on our way to swim lessons today:

Casey:  Mommy, God is way up in the sky?

Me: Yes, God is up in heaven.

Casey: I want to see him.

Me: We will get to see him someday when he's ready to see us.

Casey: God likes us?

Me: Yes God likes us.

Casey: God like bad people too?

Me: Yes, God likes bad people too, but it makes him sad when people do bad things.

Casey:  God puts bad people in jail?

Me: Yes, God puts bad people in jail.

Casey: Like robbers?

Me: Yes, robbers are bad people and go to jail.

Casey:  And dracula too?

Me: Dracula?  I guess Dracula is bad too.  Where did you hear about Dracula?

Casey: From my Halloween book.  Dracula is bad...he bites people.

---

Another Conversation we had:

We were driving home from swim lessons and we stopped at a signal next to a gas station.

Casey:  Mommy we need to get gas.

Me: No we don't.  Mommy already got gas today.

Casey: Where?

Me: At a gas station by my work.

Casey: What gas station?

Me: Chevron

Casey: No, not Chevron, Caseyron. :)

Such a comedian at 3 1/2 years old.

8/19/09:  My parents were driving Casey back to my house this evening.  Casey has recently discovered that he can curl his tongue.  He did it in the car and asked Nonnie E. if she could curl her tongue.  Nonnie could, so then Casey asked PopPop E. if he could curl his tongue.  PopPop can't and said "I'm not special like you Casey".  Casey responded with, "You're special PopPop".

8/16/09:  Lately when I'm putting Casey to bed and giving him his goodnight kiss and hug, he grabs me and tells me, "hold me forever and forever Mommy."  How can you resist that?  I asked him if he'd still tell me that when he was bigger and he said yes.  Too bad I know that's not the case.

7/20/09:  Eric, Casey, and I went up to Trout Lake for a fishing/camping trip.  This was Casey's 1st time and he was very excited.  Eric and I both agree that it's much more relaxing without a 3 1/2 year old, but definitely not as exciting.  Casey had a very hard time sitting in the boat, and got pretty bored with fishing after an hour or so.  But...Casey was the 1st to catch a fish, and we were only in the water about 5 minutes before he caught it.  Casey ended up catching about 5 fish.  Eric caught a few, and I caught 1 very tiny one that got away.

Our stringer with all of the fish got stuck in the propeller so we ended up losing all of the fish we caught.  Oh well.

After fishing we drove up to the county campground and camped.  Casey got to make smores, which was very exciting.  Rusty wanted to play rock of course, and kept bringing us the biggest rock he could find. (picture of it in the July photo album).

We got up about 6 am to go fishing again this morning.  Casey was not so sure about fishing so early.  He kept telling us "I don't like this place.  I want to go camping at home."  The fish weren't biting so we decided to end fishing a little early and head home instead.  We loaded up the boat, packed our stuff in, and drove away.....only to discover about 1 mile up the road that Rusty wasn't in our van.  We drove back down and there he was hanging out by the boat launch happy as can be.  We were very glad we noticed he was missing before we got all of the way home. :)

All in all, it was a fun fishing/camping trip and it was fun to have Casey experience this for the 1st time.  We probably won't be taking him back anytime soon though. :)

We are getting ready for our trip up to the San Juan Islands in a couple of days.  This will be Casey's 1st time up there and 1st time on a Ferry.

7/7/09:  We had a great 4th of July BBQ at our house this year.  There were about 20 people (including kids) that came.  Casey had a great time playing with the kids.  We had a GREAT fireworks show thanks to everyone pitching in money toward the fireworks.  Our neighborhood also goes a little nuts.

Casey is continuing to grow up by the second and my little baby is more and more like a little man now.  He's very proud of himself that he can go potty on the big potty all by himself now (getting on and off the toilet without help).  Eric and I were busy trying to finish up painting the trim outside on our house the other day and Casey ran instead to go potty.  When he came back outside he was running around our front yard naked.  The neighbors outside walking down the street thought he was pretty funny.

Casey also continues to say the cutest things.  A couple that I remember are:

~ We were driving up Hwy 99 and I was hitting every single red light.  I said "Casey, we are hitting every red light!"  Casey responded with, "Oh Tater Tots!"  (One of the characters from Toy Story says this)

~ My mom was driving with Casey the other day and told him to keep an eye open for what they were looking for.  She looked back at him and noticed that he was looking out the window with only 1 eye open. :)  Taking Nonnie literally.

6/21/09:  We had a great Father's Day weekend with both the Easterly and Newlean families this weekend.  Saturday was spent with the Easterly side and we went to Lee Farm where Casey and Joey got to ride ponies, play in a big Bounce House, and go down a really big slide.  Casey also "had" to go on one of the carnival rides that was a caged merry-go-round type thing.  I was really surpised that Casey wanted to go on it, and that he was perfectly fine riding it all by himself.  He also really enjoyed playing in the bounce house with Joey.  They had a really good time.  We came back and had lunch with everyone and played games.

On Sunday, we went to the Dixie Mountain Strawberry Festival with the Newlean side.  Casey loved eating all of the strawberries and cream.  They have a lot of vendors selling cute items and Casey "had" to have a beanie baby type doll shaped like a pony.  He worked over Nonnie N. and now is the proud owner of "Sparkles" the pony.

Eric and I are both very thankful we have such great families to spend time with and appreciate all of the time we do get to spend with them.

6/18/09:  I didn't realize how much time has passed since I last posted here.  Time has seemed to just fly by lately.  We've been keeping busy.  Casey continues to grow up by the second.  He officially has given up his binkie 100%.  He was down to just using it for naps and night time for quite awhile now, but he doesn't use it at all anymore because he's a "big boy now".

Casey loves singing and playing guitar with his daddy and I just recorded a very cute video of Casey and Eric singing out in the garage the other night.  They were singing "You've got a Friend in me" from Toy Story.  I have the video posted in the June 2009 picture folder.

4/29/09:  Casey has been having fun playing on the www.WorldofCars.com website with me where you can design a car and race it around a racetrack.  Yesterday he wanted to play by himself and proceeded to move the computer mouse around and create his car by himself.  I couldn't believe my little 3 year old boy actually knew how to make a mouse do things he wanted to do on the computer.  I was amazed!

4/27/09:  I was talking to Casey about babies and told him that he was once a baby and grew in my tummy until he was big enough to be born.  He replied, "Mommy, you ate me?"  I didn't understand at first, but then realized he thought he was in my tummy because I ate him.  :)  That one made me laugh.

4/14/09:  Cute response from Casey the other day:  I was making lunch and trying to open a new package of lunch meat.  I couldn't get the package open and said "Mommy's not smart enough to open the package."  Casey quickly responded, "Dad's smart!"

4/12/09:  We had a nice Easter this year.  On Saturday, Casey and I went to an Easter Egg Hunt that Annette and Jon's church hosted.  Casey had a great time grabbing candy, seeing the Easter Bunny, and playing with Joey.  We went to Eric's parent's house for Easter and had a great Easter brunch.  Casey had a great time hunting for easter eggs.  He noticed one of the eggs was cracked and asked why.  I said, "Maybe a chicken is hatching from it."  Casey didn't like that very much and quickly set the egg down. :)

4/3/09:  Nothing too new going on in our lives, but we are really looking forward to some nicer, warmer weather so we can start working out in the yard and having pretty flowers to brighten up the yard soon.

Casey continues to grow and get more grown up by the minute.  He amazes me constantly with the things that he can talk about and the things that he can do on his own.  He doesn't even ask me to get his juice for him anymore...he just goes and opens the fridge, stands on the bottom of the fridge so he can reach the top shelf and grabs his juice himself, and then puts it back in the fridge when he's done.

Casey has become obsessed with Toy Story (and Toy Story 2).  He "needs" all of the characters and the ones that he does have all line up and watch Toy Story 1 & 2 with him over and over again.  Woody has become his sleeping buddy and sleeps on his pillow with him at night.

I wanted to share a few cute things that Casey has said recently and want to make sure I don't forget them.

~"Mommy, you the best Mama in the whole world!  That make you smile Mama?"

~I answered a question Casey asked me with a "MmmHmm" the other day, and he responded, "Open your mouth Mommy.  I can't understand what you saying."  I was so impressed with that sentence...my little boy is getting so grown up.

~After drinking some water after brushing his teeth: "Mmm, water makes me healthy."

3/9/09:  We just got back from a great trip to California for my Grandma Easterly's 90th birthday party!  It was Casey's 1st time on an airplane and he did great. We arrived on Thursday evening (on Nana E's actual birthday) and got to visit with her and some of the family for a little while before going to the hotel for the night.

Friday we all went to Disneyland.  It was Casey and Joey's 1st time so it was especially fun getting to experience Disneyland through their eyes.  The park wasn't too crowded and the longest we had to wait in line was about 20 minutes.  Casey had a GREAT time getting to meet the real Goofy, Mickey, Woody & Jessie from Toy Story, and Chip & Dale.  Casey is currently 41" and the minimum requirement is 40" on most of the bigger rides so Casey got to ride on most of the rides in the park.  His favorite ride was Dumbo most of the day when you asked him, but it has now switched to the "Pirates" ride.  Nonnie and PopPop Easterly bought him a real Buzz Lightyear and Slinky and Casey absolutely loves them.  It was Eric and my 1st time going to California Adventure so that was neat to visit.  We went on the new Toy Story ride and the Soaring Over California ride. Both rides were a lot of fun.  As we were heading out of the park we found out that they were just getting ready to start a parade so we stayed for that.  It was a very cute parade and Casey really enjoyed seeing the characters.  Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater from "Cars" were in it as well as all of the "Toy Story" characters.  It was a great day.

Saturday was the big 90th birthday part for Nana E.  There was about 26 people there to celebrate her big day.  Aunt Judy put together a great slide show showing pictures of family through the years.  I had a great time getting to visit with all of the family and listen to stories Nana told about her life.  It was the 1st time everyone was together so it was an especially special time.  I really wish my Papa E. could have been there to see it.

Sunday we got to visit some more with some of the Easterly side as well as some of the Lesko side that came to Nana E's to visit.  I got to meet cousin Johnie's wife, Jessica, and son, Gavin.  Casey got to hold him which he really enjoyed.  Melinda, Christine, Eric, Casey, and I all headed back home Sunday evening.  We went from sunny weather wearing short sleeves and flip flops to mid 30's and hail/snow.

My parents did so much to help make this trip GREAT for us.  I am very thankful to have such a great family and so happy I was able to be there for Nana's birthday.

1/23/09: WE DID IT!!!  We've been trying very hard lately to convince Casey that he wants to give up diapers and start being a big boy by going potty in the "big boy" potty.  He has always answered with "Not yet...soon".  I decided that I needed to make the potty a little more exciting so I bought him a "Cars" kids seat that goes on top of the toilet seat and bought a bunch of little "potty prizes" for Casey to get when he went potty in the toilet.  He was so excited about all of this that he sat on the toilet 4 times in the 1st hour I was home from work.  Nothing actually happened any of those times, but he sat on it at his own free will so that was a big step.  THEN, after dinner I took his pull ups off anticipating that he need to go potty soon.  Sure enough he ran over to me and said he needed a pull up. So off we went to the potty again and WooHoo he pooped in the toilet!!!  I never thought I'd be so excited for something like this.  Casey was very proud of himself and said "I can tell Mickey I went poopoo in the potty!" I think we are finally on our way to not wearing diapers!

1/20/09:  It's been busy the last few weeks.  I had to fly out to Indianapolis, IN for my work last week and was gone for 4 days, which was the longest I'd been away from both Eric and Casey.  It was a great trip, but it was very hard to be gone from them that long.  Casey wouldn't let me out of his site for about a day after I came home.  Eric did a great job being Mommy and Daddy while I was gone.  I also experienced the coldest weather I've ever been in while I was in Indy.  It got to -12 with a -30 degree windchill while I was there.  I'm not looking to move there anytime soon.

Casey's new favorite word is "why?"  He says that to almost everything that we say to him.  I must hear it at least 100 times a day.  We are officially in the questioning stage that everyone tells you about.

Casey also did something I thought was very cute the other day.  He was "reading" a book and I saw him lick his finger on his right hand and flip the page with his left hand.  He did this over and over with each page he turned and I dawned on me that he was licking his finger to help him turn the page (like he's probably seen me or Auntie Becky do) but didn't understand that it works a lot better if you use the licked finger to turn the page. :)

We had a great visit from Great-Grandma Newlean, Aunt Susie and Uncle Don for Eric's parents's birthday weekend.  We had everyone over for dinner on Sunday night and as everyone was sitting down and talking getting ready to eat, Casey looked at me and said "Momma, we have to say Amen first".   He made sure everyone knew they had to say their prayers before we ate dinner.  It was very cute.

12/27/08:  A few updates: We've had A LOT of snow over the last couple of weeks.  Pictures are posted in the "snow" album under the pictures section.  I haven't driven my car in about 9 or 10 days but today the snow is almost completely gone and you've never know how much snow was on the ground just a few days ago.  Luckily we have Eric's 4 wheel drive truck or we wouldn't have been able to get around anywhere.

We had a great Christmas.  We started with Casey seeing what Santa brought him out our house.  He got his "Frank" from the Cars movie and was oh so thrilled.  He also got the "Big Loader" just like Eric had when he was little.  Casey loves watching it move around and calls it the "Big Yoder".

After Christmas morning at our house we went over to the Eric's parents house and celebrated with them and shortly later Becky, Gary, and Ross came over too.  After that, we drove down to my parent's house to celebrate with the Easterly side.  We are very thankful to have such great families to spend Christmas with.

Yesterday we visited Annette, Jon, and Joey at their new house and went to a really neat pet store near their home.  Casey loved seeing all of the animals.  They let turtles walk around the store so Casey got to touch the turtles.  Gracie the bird was also a big hit and he got to pet her.  The biggest thrill though was him getting to hold a baby snake.  He was scared at first but quickly changed his tune when he learned that they "don't hurt me".  He is braver than his Mommy because I don't like snakes...not even baby ones.  Pictures from the pet store trip can be seen here: http://picasaweb.google.com/chuckeasterly/CritterCabanaDecember2008#

Casey got to get a couple of fish to replace "Goggles" and "Fat Fish" that died awhile ago.  So now we have "Checkers" and "Bubbles".  He is very excited to have fish again.

12/14/08:  Today was Casey's and Mom's birthday party.  The snow caused the party to be a little different than planned but it was still very nice.  Vancouver hardly even had a trace of snow, but it was a different story only a few miles south of us.  Mom and Dad, Melinda, and Christine were able to make it up here with chains on the Pilot but Annette, Jon, and Joey were not able to get here.  The Newlean side of the family didn't have any problems since they are all in Vancouver.  Casey had a lot of fun opening his presents, playing with his new things, and of course eating birthday cake.   I've posted pictures of the party in the December 2008 album.  It's hard to believe that our little boy is going to be 3 years old in a couple of days!!

11/27/08:  Happy Thanksgiving! We are looking forward to spending the day with our families.  However, Casey did have an accident last night that required us going to the hospital.  Eric was singing and playing the guitar and Casey was having a great time dancing around being silly.  He got a little too silly and fell and hit his head on the hardwood step that goes down into our living room.  He ended up needing 3 staples in the back of his head.  That wasn't very much fun as you can imagine but he did really well considering the circumstances.  The nurse was very impressed with how much Casey knew and we overheard her talking to another nurse as we were leaving saying how smart Casey is.  That's nice to hear. :)

11/22/08:  Casey got to visit with his Great-Nonnie Lesko and got to meet his Auntie Stephie for the 1st time over the weekend.  He had a great time showing off and playing with them.  We also got to have an early Thanksgiving meal with them which was nice and really good.  The Beavers also won which as an added bonus!

11/1/08:  Halloween was a busy day for us.  One of my friends came into town to visit with her son, Tyler, who is about 5 months younger than Casey.  Casey and Tyler had a great time playing with each other.  There are some cute pictures and a video of them playing in the "October" album.  Then Eric and Casey carved pumpkins.  After that, we went over to Nonnie and PopPop Newlean's house and did some trick-or-treating in their neighborhood.  Casey dressed up a firefighter and was very proud of his costume.

Casey then stayed the night at Auntie Becky's house because Eric and I were going to his sister, Erin's, birthday/Halloween party.  There was a couples costume theme so Eric and I dressed up as the Publisher's Clearing House Prize Patrol and the winner.

10/30/08:  Casey had his 2nd semi serious accident a few days ago.  (1st one being the stiches he had to get on the corner of his eye 2 weeks before his 1st birthday).  This accident happened when Casey came running out of our house into our garage full speed and ran right into the metal bar of Eric's table saw that had just been moved for a minute while Eric was cleaning the garage.  Casey hit his upper cheek right under his eye.  I watched it happen and thought it hit his actual eye so I was very thankful to find out it didn't.  Eric and I took him to urgent care anyway because it looked pretty bad...but luckily he just needed a little butterfly stitch.  Casey was very brave and likes to tell you all about his accident.

On a little note - Casey is growing like a weed!  His size 3T clothes are starting to be too small and too short.  It was not very long ago that his pants were way too long.  Now I'm having to put him in 4T.  He also wears a size 10 shoe!  Only one more size to go before he's out of toddler size shoes.  Auntie Becky has been taking Casey to the weekly store time at the library and says that Casey is just as tall as most of the 4 year old kids that are there.

Casey is going to be a Fireman for Halloween this year.  He's very excited to go trick or treating.  It's supposed to rain Halloween evening so hopefully it doesn't put too big of a damper on the fun.

10/20/08: Nonnie and PopPop (Easterly and Newlean), Eric, and I took Casey to the Bi-Zi Farm pumpkin patch on Sunday.  It was the busiest we have ever seen it there.  The pumpkin patch was a little disappointing compared to last year, but we were still able to find some good pumpkins.  Casey had a great time petting and feeding all of the goats, sheep, and donkey.  He also got to go on his 1st pony ride!!  He had so much fun riding the pony (his name was Major).  I put pictures of our day in the "October 2008" album.

Casey is continuing to get bigger by the minute.  Our little baby is quickly disappearing. It's fun and sad at the same time. He continues to amaze me at how much he knows and understands.  I finally took the crib rails off of his crib yesterday morning and put up one of those shorter bed rails so he can't roll out of his crib.  So far he's gone through a nap and overnight in it no problem so I think he's about ready for a "big boy" bed.  We are planning on getting him one for his birthday.

9/29/08:  Eric has been really busy trying to get our house remodel project finished before the weather gets bad.  He finished all of the shingles on the front of the house today.  (Pictures are in the "house projects" folder at the front.) I put a couple BEFORE pictures in there to compare to the AFTER pictures.  Casey still loves to help his Daddy and there is also a picture of Casey with Eric on the ladder.  Casey climbed up all by himself and if you look closely he has his hammer in his hand just like Daddy.  Mommy proceeded to make Casey get down right after I took the picture.  We will probably have about 90% of the house done before we have to take a break for winter.  Not too bad.  It's a HUGE improvement from what it looked like before we started.

I also put some new pictures in the "Sept 2008" album.  There are a couple in there that show of Casey's extensive "Cars" collection.  He LOVES "Cars" and is very creative when he plays with all of the toys.  He even bought one with his own money the other day.  Casey was very proud of himself.

9/20/08:  Casey continues to amaze us and make us laugh with his constant questions and sayings.  He always has to know "What's that for?", "Where we going?", "Which way is (fill in the blank)?".  Our favorite thing he does right now is when he tells us, "I want to tell you a secret Mommy/Daddy."  His secret is always "I love you Mommy/Daddy!"  It is very cute!  He also likes to tell me when I put him to bed "sleep tight Mommy, I love you!".  Eric and I are really enjoying this age.

9/09/08:  We are trying to convince Casey that the potty is a good thing.  So far, it's not going very well.  He knows when he has to go and usually will go hide behind something while he's doing his business.  So that's a step in the right direction I guess.  There have only been a few times I've actually convinced him to sit on the potty and none of them accomplished anything.  The last time he was on the potty he seemed excited because Eric told him he'd get a new toy if he went potty.  Casey sat and told me "My peep's not working Mom!".  I thought it was very cute. :)

8/28/08:  It's been awhile since I've updated the page.  We've been keeping busy.  Eric and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary by buying shingles for our house.  How romantic!  Actually we did take a break from working on the house and went to a really nice dinner at the Charthouse that sits up on the hill overlooking Portland.  We also celebrated my Dad's birthday, Melinda and Christine's birthday, and Eric's cousin Ross's birthday this month so far and Joey's is tomorrow.  Eric and I leave on Saturday to fly to Spokane for Eric's cousin Tom's wedding.  Casey gets to spend the weekend with Nonnie and PopPop.

Casey is FULL of questions lately.  He is constantly talking and asking questions about things. It's very cute, and amazing how he understands and puts concepts together.  His all time favorite question to ask is "What's Dad doing?" or "What's Mom doing?".  But other common ones are "Where are we going?" "Where's the store?", "What's that for?"  He's also very proud of himself that he can spell "D-O-G Dog".

Casey has also discovered that swimming is FUN!  He loves to swim all by himself.  If you try and hold him he says "Let go, me do it myself".  I've put some pictures in the "August 2008" album.

7/7/08:  I decided to try and paint some of the new siding on our house after I got home from work today and it was just myself and Casey home so I let Casey "help" me.  I gave Casey his paint brush and he helped by slapping his paint filled brush on the house and brushed in on while I painted.  He got bored with painting the house and starting walking around the yard.  I didn't think much of it until he came back over to me and said "paint Mom's car!"  I got a horrible picture of my car covered in paint and ran over to it.  Luckily he only painted a small section on the back.  We are hoping Eric will be able to get it out.  It's hard to get mad at him.  He looked so cute and was only trying to help. But, after that, I made sure he know that he is only allowed to paint the house where I'm painting. :)

7/5/08:  Eric and I took Casey bowling for the 1st time today.  Casey thought bowling was really fun, for about 5 frames and then the race car game in the arcade section caught his eye.  After awhile he was back ready to bowl some more.  Maybe he'll get to be as good as his Great PopPop Easterly was.  We put some pictures of our bowling in the "July 2008" album.

We had a great 4th of July.  Our neighborhood goes a little crazy with fireworks.  It sounds like a war zone and the air is very hazy when it's all done.  But it's a lot of fun to watch it all from your front yard.  We had most of Eric's family over for the 4th, including Eric's grandma.  We started the day with snacks, and playing, and then did a BBQ, and finally watched the big fireworks show on our street.  Eric did a great job picking out fireworks, and our neighborhood did a great job keeping up.  I've put up some pictures from our day in the "July 2008" album.

We also continue to be busy working on the house.  All of the red rock is out and we've put barkdust in.  The siding and paint on the front of the house is almost done.  It's really coming along nicely.  I've put some new pictures of our progress in the "house projects" album.

6/17/08:  We've (especially Eric)  been really busy the last week working on our house and yard.  We are getting rid of all of the red rock in our backyard and replacing it with barkdust.  It seems like the red rock will never end.  Casey and I shovel about 6 wheelbarrow loads every night when I get home from work....some day we will be done.

Eric is hard at work on the siding for our house.  This last week he took on the project of putting stone on the front bottom half of our house.  This proved to be a much bigger project than we thought but Eric kept at it and is 99% done with the stone.  He wore a few layers of skin off of his hands and couldn't even close his hands into a fist this morning, but we both think the rock looks great.  Casey says "Good work Dad!"

Pictures of Father's Day are in the "June" folder and pictures of the new stone are in the "house projects" folder.

6/7/08:  Eric, Casey, and I went to the Hazel Dell Fire Station Open House today.  Casey got to see a lot of fire trucks up close.  Casey's favorite part was getting a fire hat, and spraying water from the fire hose.  He didn't want to leave.  Pictures are posted in the June album.

6/4/08:  I've uploaded some recent pictures.  A couple of them in the June folder are of Casey and Eric doing yoga with the Wii Fit game.  I got the Wii Fit for my birthday and we love playing it!  Casey likes to play with us and is getting really good at balancing on one leg.

5/28/08:  I had a great birthday weekend.  It really made it special that Casey kept telling me "Happy Birthday Mom!" all weekend.   I also discovered that Casey can count to 10!!!  He was counting the candles before we put them on my birthday banana cream pie (yummy!) and he counted all of the way to 10 by himself!  He gets really excited when he gets to 10. It's very cute, and I am amazed that he knows this at 2 yrs old.

5/19/08:  Casey's new favorite story to tell:  When we drive around our neighborhood to head home we'll ask Casey "Is this your house?" and Casey will say no until he sees our house.  We pulled into the driveway yesterday and Casey said "My house".  I asked him how he paid for it and he said "monies".  I asked him how he gets money and he said "job, 2 jobs".  I asked him what he does for his jobs and he said "clean, and scare pecks (and proceeded to show me how he scares the wood peckers by barking".  We thought it was very cute how he thought up all of that.  So Casey's 2 yrs old and already working 2 jobs to pay for his own house. :)

5/16/08: Casey's vocabulary has been exploding lately.  He will try and repeat any word you ask him to. He really likes to tell stories, and the things he comes up with are very funny. My favorite right now is if I ask him "How much do you love "Mommy/Daddy/etc?" he will say "A whole bunch".  It's very cute!

5/8/08:  Goggles Lives!!  After visiting and/or calling about 30 pet stores in the Portland/Vancouver area I thought finding another Goggles was hopeless, but PopPop Easterly saved the day.  He found one at a pet store by his work.  Casey was very excited to have Goggles back home again!

5/5/08:  RIP Goggles. :(  One of Casey's pet fish "Goggles" died last night.  We told Casey this morning that Goggles went to play with the other fish at the pet store and I would take him to pick Goggles up after I got home from work.  Little did I know that it would be such a challenge to replace a goldfish that had goggle/bug eyes.  We went to 3 different pet stores and none of them had that fish.  So I convinced Casey that he wanted a new "baby green" fish to come play with his "fat fish" at home.  This has worked pretty well, but he still tells me that he misses Goggles with a little sad pouty lip.  So, I have a feeling that we'll be making some more trips to pet stores in the near future.

Eric has been keeping busy with siding our house.  He has 3 sides done, and 2 sides already painted.  It is looking REALLY good.  Casey of course is being the excellent helper that he is. :)

4/20/08:  Casey knows Spanish!  Ok, well maybe just one word, but we think that's pretty good.  If you ask him "How do you say bye in Spanish?"  He will say "Adios".

Casey will also tell me "Aw, Mom's home....happy" and pat my head when I come home from work.  It is very cute, and really makes my day. :)

4/13/08:  We had a great visit with Nana Easterly and Aunt Judy!  Casey loved meeting both of them and showing off all that he can do.  I've uploaded some pictures from our time with them, most of them complements of my dad.

4/10/08: I've added a "Guest Book" link to the website.  I thought this would be a fun place for visitors to say "hi" and leave comments for us.

4/6/08:  I uploaded some pictures and video (sideways, sorry) of Casey helping Eric replace windows in our house.  Casey loves using tools just like his Daddy.

4/4/08:  Casey made his 1st piggy bank deposit at the bank today.  He had a great time throwing the change into the change counter and was very proud giving his "monies" to the bank teller.  2 years of piggy bank savings totaled $92.66.  Not too bad for a 2 year old.

3/31/08: Casey is able to match a bunch of colors now.  He's pretty good at pointing out and saying black, white, pink, brown, red, blue, and green.  He can point to yellow but doesn't know how to say that one yet.  He loves to pick out colors on cars when we are driving down the road.  He'll say "blue truck", "black car", etc.  It's a pretty fun game to play with him.

3/29/08: Eric is hard at work replacing all of the windows in our house with new vinyl windows.  Casey is having a great time "helping" his Daddy.  Eric says Casey is the best helper you can ask for.

Casey is learning new words by the minute.  He is consistently putting 3 to 4 words together now and can have a "conversation" with you.  He loves to talk on the phone.  His big story to tell right now is how he and Nannie scared away a bird pecker.  Casey says he barked at it and it flew away. "No peck bird".

3/28/08: Following (or should I say copying) Annette and Jon's lead, we've decided to try a website of our own to keep family and friends updated on what's going on with our family.
